Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Meet Bella, our sweet-as-sugar 3.5‑year‑old who was surrendered by a senior owner living in a condo. Her former guardian worried Bella’s enthusiasm on walks might accidentally pull her over, and with her grandson moving away, she wanted to make sure Bella would be safe and cared for. Bella is currently heartworm positive and has already begun her treatment. Because she needs plenty of rest while she heals, she’ll do best in a home without other dogs so she can recover comfortably. And let’s talk about her personality — Bella is all gas, no brakes in the best possible way. She’s curious, alert, and busy sniffing every molecule she passes. Laying down for photos? Absolutely not. She has places to go and scents to investigate. She sits on command, loves her walks, and enjoys being right in the middle of whatever’s happening. She’s a total party girl with a big zest for life. Despite her energetic spirit, Bella is deeply affectionate and simply wants to be loved. She’ll make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a fun, lively dog with a heart of gold. Located in West Palam Beach, available for foster or adoption.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
