Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Once you meet Carolina, it is hard not to fall in love. This beautiful, sweet-natured girl has a playful personality and so much love to give. She adores belly rubs, cozy cuddles, and spending time with her people. Carolina is happy, fun-loving energy that shines during playtime, but she is just as content curling up beside you for affection and snuggles. Gentle, loving, and full of charm, she is always ready to brighten the day for anyone with her wagging tail and loyal companionship. This sweet 4-year-old Terrier mix has a lovely short tan coat and gentle brown eyes that reflect her sweet nature. At 32 pounds, she is fully grown perfect medium size. She enjoys playing with other dogs and does well with children. However, Carolina does not get along with cats, so she will need a feline free home. Her skills, including crate training, house training, and walking nicely on a leash, are all in progress. With her eager to please personality, she will be sure to learn quickly and will thrive with patience, consistency, guidance, and love from her forever family. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
