Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Diego! Diego is a handsome 3-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing approximately 60 pounds who is looking for a fresh start and a loving forever home. Diego is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle with the people he trusts. He can be a little cautious around some men and will benefit from slow introductions and a patient family willing to let him build confidence at his own pace. He's also still discovering how to play with toys, making it clear he may not have had many opportunities to simply be a dog. Diego is looking for a calm home where he can be the only pet and would do best with children 16 years of age or older. With time, understanding, and consistency, he'll reward his family with unwavering loyalty and companionship. His adoption fee is $125. He is neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies vaccination and basic boosters, and heartworm negative. All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
