Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Kaia is still sort of new to us, as we are still slowly learning who she is. She started off very scared and shy but slowly has been coming out of her shell with a couple of our shelter members. Kaia takes a little time to learn how to trust a new person, but once she does, she really opens up! Kaia has a favorite person at the shelter, so we know that Kaia can be such a goofy, funny girl who loves to get the zoomies and fold basically in half to run with a giant smile. She spins around and takes off for a short run before coming back for a hug and some kisses/pets! We believe Kaia is so smart and will be easy to train for the person who really loves her and takes the time with her. Kaia is shy at first, so please understand that getting to know Kaia will take time, several weeks for her to start adjusting properly. Kaia may just be your next best friend and adventure buddy! Kaia has met a couple of children so far and has been very scared of them. Kaia may be best in an adult household.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
