Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat). Oso went on a day trip with a volunteer, where we can learn so much about our pups. This is her report: He is so sweet and loves attention from people. He met all the new volunteers, asked for pets from everyone, and gave lots of kisses. Oso also seems to be a pro with cars. He was eager to load into my car right away and was very well-behaved while we drove around. He was curious about coming to the front passenger seat, but laid in the back calmly with some gentle nudging. He loved his pup cup and licked it up without a mess! Oso has shown some reactivity to other dogs at the shelter, but he did came to the shelter with another dog. He also has the normal dog prey drive with squirrels and cats. So overall, best as a single pet but dogs can always learn with experienced parents... He likes treats and is clearly intelligent which makes training easier. He also loves to sniff and seems to have a good amount of energyâdefinitely not a couch potato. Overall, our day trip was great for learning more about Oso and he is such a wonderful companion. When trying to take pictures of him, he insisted on being glued to me. It is clear that he is a big people lover and I absolutely adore him! ____________ SO, come meet this adorable guy by making an appointment at yoloshelter/dogs, or email adoptyoloshelter.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
