Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Ozzy is a firm believer that every day should include tennis ball fun! This energetic guy is always ready for fun, and nothing makes him happier than grabbing a tennis ball and taking off on his own little victory lap around the yard. He'll happily chase one if you throw it, but he's just as content entertaining himself while you cheer him on. He really doesnât even need you to play with him â heâs perfectly happy picking one up and zooming around all by himself. He already knows how to sit on command, takes treats gently from your hand, and loves earning both snacks and praise. If you make him wait too long for either, he may remind you with a few excited hops to say, `Come on already!` When playtime is over, Ozzy likes to keep the fun going. He isn't quite ready to give up his favorite toys and may invite you into a playful game of `catch me if you can` before he's willing to part with them. It's all part of his goofy charm! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
