Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). How stinkin’ cute is this baby?! Meet Moo Deng — yes, named after the famous little pygmy hippopotamus, and honestly… the name fits her perfectly. This squatty little girl is packed full of personality and charm. Moo Deng was found as a stray, but it’s obvious someone cared for her at some point. She’s a thick queen with beautiful skin, she’s heartworm negative, and she absolutely adores everyone she meets. During our shelter pull she met what felt like every dog there and did amazing with all of them! Moo Deng may be short and low to the ground, but don’t let that fool you — she’s got some muscle on her too! Her dream life? Being your professional couch potato, curled up beside you for movie nights and snacks. She’s the kind of dog that keeps you laughing without even trying. Right now Moo Deng is in boarding recovering from a little shelter crud, but she should be ready for a foster home very soon. We would LOVE to get this sweet girl into a home environment where she can relax, decompress, and show off her goofy personality. Please consider applying to foster Moo Deng at .scoutshonor— we promise this little hippo girl will steal your heart.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
