Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet Collins Location: Highland Village, TX DOB: 9/29/25 Collins (046D) Collins is a sweet, gentle soul with a loving heart and a classic velcro-Dane personality. She absolutely adores her people and wants to be wherever you are — whether that’s cuddling on the couch, following you around the house, or simply laying nearby while you go about your day. She’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she feels included as part of the family. Collins has a moderate energy level and enjoys having regular activity and stimulation throughout the day. She loves running around the backyard, going on walks, and spending time with her humans and dog friends. While she enjoys playtime and activity, she also settles down nicely and loves relaxing with her people afterward. She can be a little skittish when introduced to new things like unfamiliar toys, treats, or environments, but with patience and encouragement she continues to gain confidence. Collins is still very much a big puppy at heart — curious, clumsy, and eager to learn about the world around her. Collins walks well on leash, rides nicely in the car, and has done well living with dogs of all sizes, including large Dane mixes and a toy poodle. She truly enjoys being part of a pack, whether canine or human, and would likely do best in a home where she has companionship most of the time. Another friendly dog would likely make her very happy, though her biggest priority is being close to her people. She has also done wonderfully with children ages 6, 11, and 13. Because she is still large and somewhat clumsy, supervision around babies and toddlers would be important. Collins generally loves meeting new people, though she may bark at unfamiliar adult men initially before warming up. Collins is still working on consistency with house training and crate training, but she continues to make progress. She has no known behavioral concerns and has a very loving, easygoing temperament overall. Her vet has noted some raised ridges on her front right leg, likely from scarring due to a past injury, but it does not slow her down or affect her sweet personality. Collins’ ideal home would be one where she can spend lots of time with her people, enjoy regular walks or backyard playtime, and continue building confidence in a loving environment. She is the kind of dog who simply wants to love and be loved, and she will reward her future family with endless affection and companionship. =============================================================================== To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
