Iris and her littermates were found in rural Texas living underneath a man’s shed, just trying to survive. Their devoted mama did everything she could to keep them safe and cared for during those critical first weeks, and soon after, a kind local family stepped in to bring them into foster care where they could finally experience warmth, safety, and love. Now safe, these sweet babies are thriving and growing bigger every day as they prepare to make the trip from Texas to New York in search of forever families of their very own. Like typical young puppies, Iris is playful, active, curious, and full of personality. She loves spending time with other dogs, exploring the world around her, and soaking up affection from her people. With her smarts and puppy energy, he will flourish in a forver home that is ready to provide the time, patience, training, and love every growing pup needs. Iris has already come so far from life under a shed, and now all she needs is a family who will help her continue her journey to become a happy, loved, life-long companion. SNARR requires a $150 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly enforced Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
