Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Walter is a handsome 1-year-old neutered Labrador Retriever with a big heart and an even bigger love for life! This sweet boy is full of energy and enthusiasm, always ready for his next adventure. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will keep you active and engaged, Walter could be your perfect match. Walter thrives on mental and physical stimulation. He will do best in a home where he can enjoy plenty of daily exercise, enrichment activities, and ongoing training to help him channel his energy in a positive way. Puzzle toys, structured walks, and learning new skills will keep this smart boy happy and balanced. Due to his high energy and need for structure, Walter is looking for an experienced, active owner who understands high-drive dogs. A detached home (no apartments or condos) where he has space to move and decompress. His ideal home would be no children or other pets, so he can focus on building a strong bond with his new family. Walter is a wonderful dog with so much love to give, but he will need guidance to be his best self. For this reason, enrollment in a training program is required prior to taking him home. This will set both Walter and his new family up for long-term success. If interested, please contact us at 905-832-2281 or animal.servicesvaughan.ca

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
