Riley is a sweet 4-year-old Hound mix who's been winning hearts since the moment she arrived. She came to us after an incident involving a smaller dog, but with people she has been nothing but gentle, loving, and eager to connect. Riley is one of those dogs who simply doesn't thrive in a shelter environment, and moving into a foster home made all the difference for her. When she first arrived, Riley was nervous and didn't want to come out of her room. With patience, routine, and kindness, she slowly opened up. In foster care, she greeted her family each day with a wagging tail and showed off the cuddly, affectionate personality we knew was hiding underneath. She relaxed, became more confident, and let her silly side shine. Unfortunately, Riley has now returned to our care and is once again looking for either a forever home or a foster family. While we're happy to have her with us, we know she is much more comfortable in a home environment where she can feel safe, settle into a routine, and be surrounded by people who love her. Riley has been dog-tested and did well with a calm dog her size, but she's not a match for high-energy dogs or small animals. Because of her past, she'll need a home without cats and without children under 5. Riley is currently taking Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety. This medication cannot be stopped without veterinary approval, and any changes to her treatment plan should be made under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian. Despite everything she's been through, Riley remains an incredibly sweet and loving dog who just wants a chance.
