Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200. Meet Emma Kay! Emma Kay is a 2.5-year-old sweetheart who’s equal parts cuddle bug and sunshine lover. After spending about a year and a half in a shelter, she’s more than ready to enjoy the good life—think soft beds, fresh air, and plenty of love. She has a calm, easygoing vibe and isn’t much of a barker. Honestly, she prefers to keep things low-key—whether that’s hanging by your side or stretching out in the sun like she’s on permanent vacation. She’s currently rocking her “extra love” era, but now that she’s out of the shelter and has room to move, she’s already working on her glow-up. Between her love of the outdoors and a little more freedom, she’s well on her way to her best life (and figure). Emma Kay is the best of both worlds—she loves attention and will happily soak up all the affection, but she’s also totally content doing her own thing nearby. Independent queen energy… with a soft spot for cuddles. If you’re looking for a sweet, calm companion who just wants love, sunshine, and a cozy place to call home, Emma Kay is ready to move in. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
