Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Charlie! If you're looking for an adventure buddy with endless enthusiasm, Charlie is your girl! Whether it's a neighborhood walk, a trail hike, a morning run, or a day at the beach, she's always ready to go—especially if her favorite tennis ball comes along for the fun. Charlie is incredibly smart and loves learning new tricks and skills. She thrives when she's spending time with her people, exploring new places, and making new friends. She's never met a stranger and is always happy to greet people she meets along the way. This summer, Charlie has had a blast playing with her dog friends, splashing in the water at the beach, and riding in the car to discover new adventure spots. She's an excellent travel companion and is always excited to see where the next trip leads. Charlie's ideal family will enjoy an active lifestyle and include her in all of life's adventures. Her only request is a cat/small animal-free home —she thinks chasing cats is a fun game, but the cats definitely don't agree! If Charlie sounds like the perfect addition to your family, apply today! You are welcome to email ccrcdogsccrcdogs with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at .ccrcdogs, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
