Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: $500. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Chris Wood Einar (pronounced I-nar) is a Norse name meaning “one warrior.” Einar is a big Malinois at 90 ish pounds, but the only war he wishes to wage is a battle to “be one with the force” (his person). He is an amazing dog and fully lives Yoda’s proclamation, “Great Warrior. Wars not make one great.” His obedience skills are near legendary , and he continues to work on house manners. From Einar’s Foster: Einar is the darling of our suburban neighborhood, with frequent pull overs to discuss his breed and majesty. We also overhear other pet parents comment, “You need to behave like that dog!” or “Look how nice that dog is walking!” Einar ignores all dogs like the neighborhood prince he is. The only beings requiring an alert are prey-sized teasers: squirrels, rabbits, and sometimes birds. He is too regal to lunge, though. He will stop as an indicator for Mom and Dad to notice the nefarious rodents. At home, he is very busy making sure all the pillows are fluffed. We remind him that those are our pillows, so he stops and looks for his chewy bone. With one command, he will happily hop onto his throne (raised bed), survey his kingdom, and enjoy a leisurely chew . He also loves a good romp with a Chuckit ball (larger sized). You must have two, one is for trade, as he is a shrewd businessman. Hide and seek is another favorite game. His nose is that of legends. Once he mentally counts to ten and barks, “Ready or not, here I come,” you may rest assured. He will find you! Being a young Malinois, he likes to see if we are serious about boundaries and will try to push some of the limits. He needs supervisory reminders. He is a cuddly dog and will gladly put his head on you for some scritches or lay on his back for tummy rubs between games. No time for cuddles? Einar will simply lean on us when we stop on our walks, patiently waiting while we talk to neighbors. They all think it is quite charming as do we. Einar needs some time to evaluate each new person, but he has always been quite sweet with them once he does. Special Notes: Einar might be a great sport prospect if you are interested in pulling, nosework, or obedience. No small children due to Einar’s size. No accessible prey size animals in the home. Inquiries for Einar can be directed to Coordinator Chris Wood at cwoodmalinoisrescue . Please CC Assistant Coordinator Beth Sorenson at bsorensonmalinoisrescue . ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
