Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet “Madi,” a beautiful dog who is looking for a family to call her own! After suffering a terrible injury last year, Madi bravely underwent a leg amputation. She has adapted beautifully as a tripod and doesn’t let it slow her down! She enjoys going for walks and loves going for rides in the car. She likes toys and will happily entertain herself with them before curling up on a comfy bed or a cozy lap for a nap. While she has so much love to give, she will need a patient and understanding family who can help her continue building confidence. New environments and unfamiliar situations can make her nervous, and she is sometimes reactive when seeing people through a barrier like a window or gate. She would be happiest in a calm home without young children. Because she is uneasy around other animals, she would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can feel safe and secure without added stress. Madi is not a fan of cats and should be in a cat-free home. If you are interested in Madi, please complete an adoption application at lastdaydogs

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
