Description
Dog Breed: Redbone Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200. Meet Sally Born on 6/7/25, Sally is a beautiful Redbone Coonhound with a remarkable story of resilience and transformation. When her foster first found her in Theodore, Alabama, Sally was in heartbreaking condition. She was hairless, severely underweight, and so hungry that she was found eating roadkill in the middle of a highway just to survive. Her bones were visible, and it was clear she had been neglected for a long time. Fast forward to today, and Sally is an entirely different dog. With proper care, patience, and lots of love, Sally has blossomed into a sweet, affectionate girl who is finally learning what it means to be safe. While she was once fearful of everything around her, she has gained confidence and now absolutely adores children. She does best with older children who understand how to respect a dog's space and won't climb on or pull at her. Sally gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends. Her compatibility with cats is unknown. She loves playing fetch, spending time with her family, and curling up for cuddles after a day of fun. Because of her difficult past, Sally can still be cautious in new situations and likes a little time to take things in, but once she trusts you, she is incredibly loving and loyal. Sally's journey from a starving, frightened dog to a happy, healthy companion is nothing short of amazing. Now all she needs is a family of her own to continue showing her that the world can be a kind place. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle soul with a survivor's spirit and endless love to give, Sally may be the perfect addition to your family. ❤️ Amazing Grace Bully Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Pensacola, Florida. Overview:
The Redbone Coonhound is a striking American breed, instantly recognizable by its beautiful, glossy red coat. Originating in the Southeastern United States in the late 18th century, they were developed for their exceptional scenting abilities and distinctive "bawling" bark, ideal for trailing and treeing raccoons and other small game. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular hounds with long, pendulous ears and soulful brown eyes, exuding an air of quiet determination. Temperamentally, Redbones are known for being amiable, outgoing, and eager to please, making them wonderful companions. They are generally good with children and other dogs when properly socialized, though their strong prey drive means careful introductions to smaller pets are necessary. Due to their high energy levels and vocal nature, they are not typically suited for apartment living and thrive in homes with spacious yards and active families who can provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of common hound ailments such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and bloat. Overall, the Redbone Coonhound is a loyal, affectionate, and spirited breed, perfect for active families seeking a devoted canine companion.
