Description
Dog Breed: Boxer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 425. Tater is an approximately an 8-month-old Boxer/Shepherd mix weighing in at about 33 pounds of pure puppy charm. Tater is your loyal little shadow and loves following his people wherever they go. This sweet boy is eager to learn and is soaking up everything his foster family is teaching him. Tater loves being outside whether he's running around the yard, playing with his foster brothers, or simply stretching out in the grass to enjoy the sunshine. Tater was in a kennel in a high kill shelter for months after being confiscated for neglect, so it's no wonder he is thrilled to be in the fresh air, lounging on a soft bed and that he simply adores the affection of his foster family! He's also learning the ropes from his foster dog siblings and is gaining confidence every day. Walking on a leash is still a bit scary for him, so he's taking baby steps and would benefit from continued patience and encouragement. He's still working on potty training and crate training, and he's making progress every day. At the end of the day, Tater's favorite place is right next to you—especially if that means snuggling up in bed for a good night's sleep. He'd love a family that spends time outside and a fenced in yard! Breed overview
Overview:
The Boxador, a popular designer dog, is a lively crossbreed resulting from the union of a Boxer and a Labrador Retriever. Originating in North America, this hybrid was developed to combine the best traits of its parent breeds, creating a loyal and energetic companion. Physically, Boxadors are medium to large-sized dogs with a muscular build, typically weighing between 50-80 pounds. Their coat is short and dense, varying in color from brindle and fawn to black and chocolate, often displaying the distinctive Boxer mask or the gentle Lab expression. Temperamentally, they are known for being friendly, intelligent, and highly social, making them excellent family pets that thrive on interaction. While adaptable, their energy levels mean they require regular exercise and are best suited for homes with yards rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, certain cancers, and heart conditions like aortic stenosis.
