Meet Drako Drako is a 9-year-old, 63-pound German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix looking for a patient, experienced adopter who understands that trust takes time. Once he feels safe, he is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and happiest by your side. Drako is house-trained, crate-trained, and enjoys car rides, long walks, relaxing in the sun, and curling up with a fuzzy blanket. He is highly food motivated, making continued training rewarding and enjoyable. He has completed professional training to help him better manage his reactivity around other dogs. Drako is looking for an adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He is sensitive to handling around his face, paws, and hindquarters and prefers people who respect his space and allow him to build confidence at his own pace. He is currently maintained on medication for a previous seizure disorder and back support, both of which are well managed. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will reward your patience with unwavering loyalty and unconditional love, Drako may be the perfect match.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
