Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Adoption Fee: $320.63 includes all applicable MN sales tax. Bailey was picked up as a stray and taken to an Ohio shelter. An owner was located but they never came for her. Bailey was SO SCARED at the shelter that they didn't even put her in a kennel, she stayed in the office where she spent most of the time hiding under a desk. She is a lucky girl in that when the shetler reached out to us for help and we posted for foster help, we got it! Bailey is currently hanging out at her temporary foster home in northern Indiana. As we get to know her we will post more information but so far we know that she is good with other doge. Bailey is very timid (but sweet!) in new situations. She does seem to prefer female humans more so than male humans but temp foster mom Sarah is working on that with her. Bailey is up to date on all vetting. The shelter had her at 6 years old, but she *might* be a little younger than that. Bailey will be moving to her Minnesota foster home at the beginning of June, unless of course the perfect family would happen to find her.

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
