Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. *Name: Ruger *Age: 5 years old *Current Weight: 75 lbs *Adoption fee: $400 Meet Ruger! If you're looking for a best friend who can keep up with your adventures and then happily snuggle up for a lazy afternoon, Ruger might just be your perfect match! This handsome boy is as loving as they come. Ruger adores other dogs and would love a canine companion to romp around with. He's also wonderful with children once he's had a proper introduction and a chance to say hello. One of Ruger's favorite things in the world is zooming around the yard at full speed, running giant loops until he's completely worn out. Watching his joyful bursts of energy is guaranteed to make you smile! Once playtime is over, though, Ruger transforms into a world-class cuddle bug who is happiest stretched out on the couch or curled up in your lap. While treats don't really impress him, offer him a good chewy and you'll have his full attention. Ruger is the perfect mix of playful and laid-back, making him an easy companion for both active days and quiet nights at home. If you're ready for a loyal, affectionate, and endlessly lovable sidekick, Ruger is waiting to meet you! To apply to adopt, fill out an application at snarrnortheast/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
