Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Meet Juniper, a beautiful 4-month-old Shepherd mix whose story began in a place no puppy should have to call home. Juniper and her nine littermates were discovered underneath a school building in Puerto Rico, struggling to survive on their own. Our rescue team was able to bring all ten puppies to safety and give them the chance at a future they never would have had on the streets. Now Juniper is ready for a family of her own. She's a sweet, curious puppy who is ready to explore everything life has to offer. Juniper has an adventurous side, but she's also incredibly affectionate and loves settling into your arms for some well-earned cuddles. For Juniper, the hard part is over. She doesn't have to worry about where she'll sleep or how she'll survive anymore. Now she just needs someone to show her what it means to belong. She was rescued from underneath a school. Her next home should be the one she never has to leave. Could Juniper's happily ever after be with you? To meet Juniper, please complete an adoption application: form.jotform/91758283848171

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
