Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet Oscar Doo Location: Denham Springs, LA DOB: 4/19/24 Oscar Doo is a sweet, lovable boy with a heart full of affection and a strong desire to be close to his people. He's the definition of a "Velcro Dane"—wherever you go, Oscar is sure to follow. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or heading to another room, he'll happily stay right by your side. One of Oscar's favorite things is carrying a toy around in his mouth. He loves to prance through the house showing off his prized possession, and it's impossible not to smile when you see him. Another adorable Oscar quirk is that when he sleeps, the tip of his tongue peeks out of his mouth. Oscar has moderate energy. He enjoys playtime and gets especially excited when it's time to eat, but he also settles down nicely and loves cuddling with his people. Like many Great Danes, he doesn't quite understand how big he is and may occasionally climb onto the couch by stepping over the armrest—or even over you if you're not paying attention! He is housebroken, crate trained, and rides well in the car. He could benefit from some additional leash training, but overall he's a very well-mannered companion. Oscar recently experienced his first bath and made it clear that bathing is not among his favorite activities. Oscar currently lives with two adult Great Danes—a 10½-year-old female and a 4-year-old male—and gets along wonderfully with both. He may occasionally give a small growl if another dog approaches while he's holding a toy, as he prefers not to share the one already in his mouth. However, he has never shown any aggression, and multiple toys can be present without issue. At this time, Oscar has not been tested with cats or children. He has met new adults and welcomed their attention, enjoying all the pets and affection he could get without showing fear or aggression. Oscar would thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of attention, companionship, and cuddles. If you're looking for a loyal shadow, a gentle giant, and a devoted best friend, Oscar Doo may be the perfect addition to your family. =============================================================================== To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
