Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Darcy (TX) is a female pitbull terrier who was estimated by our veterinary partner to be 3 years old at the time of intake in May 2026.. Darcy is good with people and other dogs but no cats for this little lady! Darcy's adoption fee is $500.00. Darcy is your typical rag to riches story, although her story has just begun and she is on her way to the riches part of the story. Poor Darcy was thrown away and we found her literally in a garbage dump on the side of the road. Once we heard about her situation we just right in and got her a place to stay, checked out by the vet and now gets feed on a regular schedule. She must feel like she hit the jackpot, but we know the real jackpot is the family that adopts her! She is super sweet, loves people and other dogs although cats she is not a fan of. If you would like to adopt Darcy and invite her into your comfortable, loving home as a family member well loved and safe, please put your application in here: .rescuedogsrocknyc Please also be sure to reference her name as Darcy (TX) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you! All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
