Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200.00. Will be in training till mid Oct Pet Rescue By Judy has teamed up with an incredible program called the Greyhound Advancement Center which will allow some of our dogs to attend a ten-week prison training program. The program originally started to help retired racing greyhounds learn how to “dog”. Greyhound racing is now illegal in our state, but the program worked so well that they decided to open up to other rescues and accept different breeds. Each dog is teamed up with an inmate who is in their dog training program. This program allows inmates to gain an important skill that they can bring with them when they are released. The head trainers are the best of the best and we are sure that these dogs are going to come out of this program with all kinds of tricks up their little doggy sleeves. Our dogs are so blessed to be able to learn important obedience training to help with their confidence and make them awesome additions to a family. We cannot thank Greyhound Advancement Center enough for giving these dogs a leg up on getting into their forever home! Stella was formerly known as Judie. She was adopted in 2017 as a puppy; however, her family dynamics have changed and they are no longer able to care for this sweet dog. Despite being 9 years old, Stella still has plenty of energy when it's time for outdoor time. She enjoys going for walks, exploring the yard, and spending time outside. Stella is also perfectly content to relax indoors, stretch out on her bed, and enjoy lazy naps throughout the day. Pros to adopting Stella/a senior dog -housebroken -crate trained -likes other dogs -likes cats -likes kids -good on a leash and enjoys walks and running -great in the car -will chase all the lizards & squirrels from the yard :) Stella understands "sit," "paw," and "lay down" as commands Stella is a little nervous with thunderstorms and fireworks but this is really her only quirk. She is truly an amazing dog looking for her forever home where she can live out her golden years.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
