Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300. Delilah Song – Coming Soon Meet Delilah Song, a beautiful young mama who has already overcome so much. In April, Delilah was found after giving birth in a dirt field next to an apartment complex. Her newborn puppies were scattered in the dirt, and this sweet first-time mom was trying her best but simply didn’t know what to do. Delilah’s story could have ended very differently, but she was rescued and given the care and support she needed. Now she’s ready for the next chapter of her life — one where she gets to be loved, spoiled, and finally just be a dog. ❤️ Delilah is currently recovering from her heartworm treatment and will be coming soon once she is fully healed and ready to find her forever family. This sweet girl has medium energy and a wonderful personality. She is potty trained, crate trained, and dog friendly. Because she was found starving and had to fight for survival, she prefers to eat her meals in her crate or separately from other dogs. However, she shares toys and treats like a good girl. No cats for this girl as she shows too much interest in them and enjoys chasing squirrels. She is great about keeping them out of the yard. Delilah enjoys a good game of fetch and absolutely loves the water! She’s still learning how to swim, but she has discovered that playing on the pool steps is pretty amazing. Like any young dog, Delilah is still learning what is appropriate to chew on — shoes and leashes may seem like great puppy toys to her right now, but she’s working on it! She will thrive with a family that continues to guide her with patience and love. Delilah Song is proof that a rough beginning doesn’t define your future. She is loving, playful, resilient, and ready to find the family who will show her just how wonderful life can be.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
