Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Scout is a 1yo male hound mix who was rescued as a stray from the streets of Memphis. Friendly, well socialized, never meets a stranger! Good with other dogs, not cat tested. Scout is very strong and active so he’s recommended for children 6 years and older. Very active outside, but he settles down quickly in the house. Crate trained and housebroken. Loves to be with his people. Fair on the leash, we’re working on it. Rides great in the car. Estimated DOB is 6-25-25. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, neutered, weighs about 55 pounds. Scout’s ideal adopter will have plenty of time for him and be willing to take him to Obedience Class so he can learn commands and become the best pup he can be. AWESOME young hound mix will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner) for an active family.. To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
