Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: 500.00. ____________________________________________________________ Sandra Wardell - Coordinator Meet Ziva Located in Illinois Ziva was found in the middle of a Wisconsin winter out in the cold, covered in mange. This poor girl had a rough start so she has a hard time trusting new people at first. This poor girl deserves the family of her dreams! Ziva is estimated to be between 1-2 years old, she is still very much a puppy in a big girl body. This sweet girl is moderate energy loves her play time, especially the flirt pole. She has had foundations in frisbee, fetch, dock diving, and nosework. Ziva does not have a super working dog drive however, she still has a great time trying new activities. Ziva is ALWAYS down for a good adventure hiking. She would do great in a home that maintains a somewhat active lifestyle and would dedicate time to play with her and fulfill her needs or someone looking to get into the sport world to have some fun! Here’s some information about Ziva! Young girl who loves to play Once she warms up to you, you’ll have a partner for life! Enjoys long walks/ hikes Loves playing with the flirt pole Has had quite a bit of obedience training Great for baths and nail trims Knows foundations of nosework, fetch, frisbee, and dock diving Ziva has had a strong foundation in obedience and knows all her commands very well. She does great for baths, brushing, and nail trims. Kennel trained and muzzle conditioned. Ecollar trained (mini educator). Ziva also loves trick training and find it games with treats! Lastly, every great dog has their quirks. Here are Ziva’s: Socially Ziva is a dominant girl. That being said she prefers submissive dogs to play with. She plays just like a puppy! She is used to playing with a 6 month old border collie but goes out 1-2 times a week with different dogs. When out with more dominant dogs who posture up to her and get stiff with body language, she tends to react because she is unsure and feels threatened. She is just a nervous girl with big feelings. When in the kennel around new people she gets nervous that she can go anywhere or move away so she will sometimes bark. At home, this behavior will subside in 1-3 days when she gets comfortable with you. She would do well in a home with much older kids. She does well when new kids, or people in general, respect her space and boundaries. She is not a dog who will like if strangers come up and pet her on walks. She requires an owner who will stand up for her and advocate for her and help others respect her boundaries. Regarding kids, if they give her her time and let her warm up on her own, she will get used to them. This is the same with new people. Ziva is a smart girl who picks up on things quickly and strives off of routine and structure. She is eagerly waiting to meet her new family and show them how great of a girl she is. Ziva has a whole lot of love to give. She is loyal and when you’ve gained her trust, anything is possible! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
