Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed. Meet Agnes, an approximately 8-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix weighing around 35 pounds. This beautiful girl has a gentle soul and is ready to find the loving home she's always deserved. After being found as a stray at a local shelter, Agnes came into rescue, where she was spayed and had several mammary tumors removed. Thankfully, the biopsies came back benign, and she's now healthy and ready for her next chapter. Agnes is a little shy at first and needs time to settle into new surroundings, but once she feels safe, her affectionate personality shines. She's a true Velcro dog who loves being close to her people, following them from room to room, gently asking for cuddles, and giving the sweetest kisses. She is completely house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is crate-trained, although she prefers not to be confined. She enjoys lounging on her trampoline bed, soaking up the sunshine, and would love a securely fenced yard where she can explore at her own pace. Agnes still has plenty of energy and would enjoy daily walks or hikes with her family. Agnes gets along with other dogs but appreciates slow introductions while she builds confidence. She has been cat-tested and couldn't care less about cats. Because she can be timid, she'd do best in a home with older children or adults only. Her ideal family will be home much of the day and willing to give her the patience, love, and reassurance she needs to continue blossoming. Agnes is a truly kind dog without a mean bone in her body. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will happily be by your side through life's everyday moments, Agnes is waiting to meet you. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
