Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff (medium coat). GARNET - OUR HIDDEN GEM Garnet truly is a hidden gem who keeps getting overlooked, and we just don't understand why. This handsome 4-year-old, 103-pound Cane Corso is the definition of a sweet, gentle giant. Garnet isn't asking for much out of life. He's not particularly interested in long walks or big adventures. Honestly, we think his dream life involves a comfortable couch, a loving person beside him, and plenty of opportunities to lounge around and relax. He is incredibly chill and easygoing. And such a gentlemen...accepting treats so sweetly and gently. From what we have observed at the shelter, Garnet seems comfortable around other dogs. But with any new dog relationship, slow, thoughtful introductions would still be important to make sure everyone is comfortable and set up for success. Despite his impressive size, Garnet is just a big, gentle boy who wants to be loved and have a place where he can finally settle in and call home. If you're looking for an energetic hiking buddy, Garnet might not be your guy. But if you're looking for a giant couch potato who would happily spend his days lounging around with you, Garnet may be absolutely perfect. Sometimes the best dogs are the ones quietly waiting for someone to notice them. Come discover our hidden gem and give Garnet the chance he deserves. See some of his cute expressions below. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
