Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Foster or forever home wanted, meet Oliver. The days leading up to the dreaded 4th of July holiday are dangerous for dogs that have been in overcrowded shelters for any length of time. Add to that, a dog with visible wounds on his left rear leg. As with many dogs these days, he didn't have a collar, tag or microchip and no one ever came looking for him. We knew he would not survive the holiday due to a high influx of dogs coming in, so we went to grab him. Oliver came into the San Bernardino shelter as a stray on June 6th. Oliver was found abandoned in a park tied to a tree. The finder kept him for three days while looking for his owner. The finder stated he was good with his kids and cat. Now that he’s been with us a few days, we’re learning how smart he is!! Oliver knows sit, shake and down!! He’s quickly become a volunteer favorite! The shelter staff said Oliver is a very sweet and friendly dog. Oliver has been kenneled with other dogs during his stay and has been great with them all.
