Description

Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet Eeyore! Location: Corpus Christi, TX DOB: 10/24/25 Eeyore, affectionately nicknamed Jabarkus, is an incredibly sweet, cuddly, and affectionate boy with a goofy personality that will keep you smiling. It took him about a week to settle into our home, but once he felt comfortable, he truly blossomed. Now he greets us at the door with the cutest happy howl—we absolutely love it! Eeyore has a medium energy level, leaning toward medium-high. He enjoys being with his people and likes to stay close, though he isn't constantly seeking physical contact. He loves to play, run around the yard, and go for walks, but he's also happy to relax after he's had a chance to burn off some energy. Before every meal, he does the sweetest little twirl in circles, and his happy howls are one of our favorite things about him. He's still discovering the world, so many things are new to him. Sometimes he'll startle at unfamiliar sights or sounds, but if you calmly show him everything is okay, he quickly investigates and learns that there's nothing to worry about. He's a very smart dog who learns fast. Eeyore is currently working on his house training and has made great progress. He can stay home for several hours without accidents and can make it through the night just fine. When people are home, he still needs supervision because he occasionally forgets to let you know he needs to go outside. He has learned to use bells on the door when he recognizes he needs to potty, and he's improving every day. Crate training has been more challenging. He absolutely hates the crate and has even managed to escape it twice! He's slowly making progress, but he'll need a patient family willing to continue working with him. His leash manners are also a work in progress. He loves exploring the world and is much more interested in investigating everything than walking politely beside you. Likewise, car rides are still scary for him. We've been taking him on short trips to help build his confidence, but traveling is something he'll continue to need positive experiences with. One area that will benefit from continued training is his excitement around other dogs. On walks, he becomes very eager to greet them and can get overly excited. We've been able to redirect and settle him, and his reactions appear to come from excitement rather than aggression. Because of this, we currently feel he would do best as an only dog, though an experienced home with a calm, well-socialized dog that can appropriately correct him may also be successful. Eeyore has not been tested with cats. He currently lives with teenagers (ages 14, 16, and 17) and absolutely adores them. He has never met a stranger and thinks everyone is a potential friend. He's not much of a guard dog! The only time he barked protectively was when one of the kids snuck into the kitchen late at night shortly after Eeyore arrived. He quickly realized who it was and immediately relaxed. One thing to know about Eeyore—he LOVES to chew! Socks, shoes, bras, and just about any personal item left within reach are fair game. Providing plenty of appropriate chew toys and keeping tempting items picked up will help set him up for success. Eeyore would thrive with an active family that enjoys daily walks, hikes, jogging, or outdoor adventures. He doesn't need constant activity, but he does need an outlet for his energy every day. We think he'd do best with children around 12 years and older, simply because he's playful, energetic, and can match their activity level. Most of all, Eeyore needs a family committed to continuing his training. He is an incredibly intelligent dog with so much potential and loves learning new things. With consistency, patience, and plenty of love, he's going to make an amazing companion. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, hilarious dog who will greet you with happy howls and keep life entertaining, Eeyore just might be your perfect match. =============================================================================== To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Great Dane

A.K.A.: German Mastiff, Deutsche Dogge, Dänische Dogge, Tigerdogge, Ulmer Dogge, Englische Dogge, Grand Danois, Dogue Allemand, Great German Dog, Apollo of Dogs, King of Hounds, Gentle Giant, Dane
Overview:

The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
