Are you looking to adopt or foster a young adult medium breed who is social and friendly towards all humans and dogs? Excellent! Keep reading about this sweetheart. This bio has been updated as of 7/19/26 and as Carmi's foster mom for 4 months I know her very well and can say this is who she is: Carmi is a baja mutt rescued from the streets of Tijuana early pregnant and unfortunately, she gave birth before ARWOB could get involved and spay her. The pups were born mid-December. She had a litter of 8 pups (7 survived) and we STILL have 2 of her puppers available for adoption and looking for foster as well. All 3 fostered together at casa de arwob. We do NOT know what Carmi's breed is but knowing she is from baja she is a SUPER MUTT aka likely good percentage pitbull, shepherd, would not be surprised poodle or chihuahua or some weird pure breed comes out of left field! ha ha IF you are looking to adopt a NO PITBULL looks/genes whatsoever dog, then this girl is likely NOT the one for ya and we recommend you search for other rescues to adopt. If breed is not important for you and just looking for an EXCELLLENT match on your needs, then keep reading because we know Carmi very well having her in San Diego since early February in foster homes. Carmi first was fostered for a month along with her pups while nursing back in February in a foster home with 4 children ranging in the 5 to 10yr of age and a couple of resident adult large breed dogs. She was perfect. We moved her to casa de arwob in March to separate her and give her a MUCH-needed break from her pups. At casa de ARWOB we have multiple foster dogs of all ages, breeds, size and she has always done amazing. We also have foster cats and she is separated from them through a baby gate as she is too interested in them. She is very manageable, but she will do best in a home with no small critters (cats, mice, rabbits, probably birds) IF a stray cat jumps in yard, you can easily have her stop or not start a chase as she easily responsive to leadership. She never wants to be in trouble with people, and her feelings can get hurt easily if she is told a HARD NO. She will response and not chase. During walks she is easily entertained by looking into bushes or seeing what lizards etc are scurry around. She pulls on the leash but easily can be corrected when she is adopted by her human to do the one on one dog training and good leash manners, thankfully she does NOT go crazy on 'prey drive' even when she is walked by the beach by the rocks and many stray cats or squirrels by the rocks are teasing her you can comfortably walk her, she will be much better once she is though loose leash walking to not pull. I LOVE that Carmi has never exhibited any leash reactivity or dog selectivity on or off leash. She is a great dog park dog as well as a partner to walk. She loves walks and to socialize. Carmi is an EXCELLENT house dog. Easy, in all senses. NO anxiety, potty trained, perfect in crate, not a vocal dog but has a good bark when she does. She doesn't destroy or chew things, very easy and mindful. Looking for a social dog you can take to dog park, dog beach, restaurants, dog friendly places, she's your gal. She is intelligent and good hearted loyal girl who everyone adores when they meet her especially at the dog park. She loves to run with dogs, she plays tug of war with toys, sometimes she will fetch but not as some dogs, she will play with toys and sometimes destuff them but not to a huge degree, just once in a while. She is mostly chill, enjoys walks and dog/human companionship. She is Healthy fully vetted, and the only negative thing would be she does get car sick. Typically hypersalivates and sometimes will chuck stuff. We have come to learn she has a 10-20min time frame driving before she starts getting nauseous. She enjoys car rides and will happily jump up, so if you are looking for a dog to do long trips you best follow a protocol to prevent, minimize and simplify how to handle this like seat protectors and hand towel to wipe her drool. Interested in fostering or adopting this beauty? submit an application to adopt or foster online at arwob OR Contact us via email and we can schedule a meet at our local dog park if you prefer to meet her before submitting an application to start the process. ARWOB is currently NOT holding adoption events. If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
