Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Josie! My name is Josie, and I came to rescue from the Oakland shelter with my sister, Jilly. We are the very best of friends, and because I love having a canine companion, I would do best in a home with another young, playful dog that can be my new best friend. I was removed from my previous owner after not always being treated kindly, but I haven’t let that change my sweet spirit. Since coming to rescue, life has been pretty amazing—lots of treats, toys, yummy meals twice a day, and plenty of time outside to run and play! I am mostly house trained, fairly easy on a leash, and have a very soft, gentle temperament. I love meeting new people and don’t have any stranger danger. I’m a happy girl who is ready to leave my past behind and find a family that will love me forever. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion with a heart of gold, I may just be your perfect match! AZ Mastiff Rescue Rescue One Until There Are None. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
