Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Buster is an adorable mystery mix straight from the reservation with a heart as big as his smile! Around 2 years old, this handsome boy is house-trained, crate-trained, and walking nicely on a leash. He also knows how to sit—especially when treats and a little encouragement are involved! Buster came into rescue after being attacked by other dogs and needing medical care. Despite everything he went through, he never lost his sweet, loving nature. He quickly won everyone over with his gentle personality and affectionate spirit, earning himself a permanent spot in foster care while he waits for his forever family. This happy guy loves everyone he meets and is always ready to share his signature smile. Toys are one of his greatest joys in life, and he has an adorable habit of gathering every toy he can find and stashing them in his crate like a dragon guarding its treasure. Buster loves to run, wrestle, and play with his canine siblings. He's an active, fun-loving dog who would thrive with a family that enjoys playtime as much as he does. He has been around cats while separated by a gate and has shown calm curiosity without being overly excited, but he hasn't had direct interactions with them, so his compatibility with cats is still unknown. Like many young dogs, Buster can get a little carried away when he's excited. He may jump up to greet people or paw at you when he's looking for attention. Because of this, he would likely do best in a home without very small children, or with older kids who are comfortable around an eager, affectionate dog. Buster is truly one of those once-in-a-blue-moon dogs—kind, resilient, goofy, and endlessly loving. He's the kind of companion who will fill your home with laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love. If you're looking for a best friend who will happily steal your heart (and all the toys), Buster is ready to meet you. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
