I'm Snookie, and I'm ready to leave my past behind and start the happiest chapter of my life. Lucky Dog volunteers found me on the streets of Puerto Rico shortly after I welcomed four brand-new puppies into the world. I did my best to be a good mama despite having so little. Now that my babies are safe, it's finally my turn to find a family of my own and experience all the love and comfort I've always deserved. I'm dreaming of a home filled with soft beds for cozy naps, lots of cuddles from my favorite people, and plenty of yummy treats (I think I've earned a few!). While I don't need to live with another dog, I'd love opportunities to make canine friends on walks, at the park, or during fun playdates. I enjoy being social and would be thrilled to have buddies to romp around with from time to time. Most of all, I'm looking for a family who will show me that I'll never have to worry about where my next meal, nap, or hug is coming from again. I've already been through so much, but my heart is still full of love. All I need now is someone to give me the fresh start I've been waiting for—and I promise to fill your home with gratitude, happy tail wags, and endless cuddles. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
