Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Age: 2 years Breed: Terrier mix Sex: Female Size: 40 lb Status: Available Felicia is such a sweet and kind soul! She has so much love to give, but she needs a special person to help her come out of her shell. We're not sure what happened in her past, but we know it wasn't good. She came in as a stray and was scared of everything—people moving too fast, loud noises, leashes, bowls clanking. She would shut down and shake in fear, trying her best to disappear. Felicia has been in a shelter for about a month and is finally learning to trust again. She now enjoys her time with people and loves being carried like a baby! She’s slowly learning how to walk on a leash... baby steps! She's gets along with other dogs she has met at the shelter, but she's super shy. Felicia would do best with a patient and understanding family who can help her build her confidence. Once this girl knows she's safe with you, she'll love you unconditionally! Adoption/Transport Fee: $300.00

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
