Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: 410.00. ACE (watch my video!) Male, neutered ~1-1/2 years old Pit Bull Terrier 60 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with dogs and kids; untested with cats Meet Ace From the moment he arrived at the shelter, Ace became a volunteer favorite. His goofy personality, sweet nature, and endless love for everyone he met made him impossible not to love. When he landed on the PG County Urgent List, our hearts sank. We thought that chance had come when a family applied to adopt him. But they changed their mind just hours before his deadline. With time running out, volunteers shared his story far and wide, determined not to let their favorite boy be forgotten. In the final hours, LOVEPAWS stepped in and saved Ace. Now he’s safe in a foster home, winning over everyone he meets while he waits for the forever family he’s always deserved. Ace is a happy-go-lucky, house-trained sweetheart who is as easy to love as he is to live with. He’s the kind of dog who fits right into your home, learns routines quickly and is truly the perfect house guest. He’s incredibly food motivated which makes training fun! He already knows sit, down, paw and wait, and he’s currently working on his place command, sitting politely before going out the door, and waiting patiently before mealtime. Don’t let his athletic looks fool you—Ace is actually a giant cuddle bug. His favorite place is wherever you are, usually with his oversized head resting on your lap or shoulder while he gazes into your eyes, shamelessly asking for belly rubs… or maybe just hoping you have a snack to share. He’s a big baby at heart and loves nothing more than being close to his people. Ace absolutely adores other dogs, he wants to be everyone’s friend. On walks, if he spots another dog, he’ll adorably flop down and patiently wait, hoping they’ll come over to say hello. It’s one of the cutest things you’ll ever see. He’d love a playful canine sibling to romp around with, but he’d also be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. Whether you’re looking for the perfect family dog, a loyal adventure buddy, or a goofy shadow who will follow you from room to room, Ace is your boy. After everything he’s been through, he’s more than ready for the forever home he’s always deserved—and we promise he’ll steal your heart just like he stole ours. Interested in adopting? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
