Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). BROOKS Is a bundle of fun! It is a delight to see him romp around the play yard. He loves toys and is very food motivated. Brooks already knows `sit` and `down`. We can't wait to see what else he can learn! Brooks currently weighs 61 lbs. f you're interested in meeting Brooks, please visit humboldtgov/2658/Animal-Shelter and fill out an application to be pre-approved to make an appointment. From Volunteer: `I walked Brooks for the first time yesterday. He was easy to leash and exit his kennel. He has the cutest hop run combo when going around the yards. He was happy to chase some tossed toys and even picked up a few; he found a frisbee type toy that became his favorite. He knows Sit, Shake, Down, Wait, and takes treats nicely. He also sort of prances when he walks which is pretty adorable. He got hist first bath and he gets a 10/10. Since he was great for the shampoo portion I also used conditioner. He let me wrap him up in towels with zero complaints and was seriously an all around fantastic boy. He had more yard time after that and some cuddles with ACO Hovis before heading back inside. We made a final stop in the front office so he could show off how shiny and soft he was to the front office crew. He is a very sweet dog!`

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
