Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). It honestly blows our minds that Cherry is still waiting for a family to call his own. From the day he left the shelter, he has been pure joy, big laughs, and total goofball energy. He was a little rough around the edges in the beginning, but the second he realized he was safe, his sweet, spunky personality took over. Right now, he’s thriving in a wonderful foster home in VT, proving every day just how incredible a rescue dog can be when given a chance. His cherry eye corrective surgery was a huge success—he has healed up beautifully, looks fantastic, and is completely ready to move on to his forever couch. A vet reference, home and/or family visit, and an adoption fee are required. Transport options are available within our operating region, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
