Description
Dog Breed: Rottweiler (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet Haley! "A sweet, resilient girl ready to step into her happy future and find a loving family of her own." Quick Facts Age: 7 months old Gender: Female Breed: Rottweiler Vetting: Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and ready for adoption! Current Location: North Carolina (via Mississippi) Her Story Haley’s journey started down in Mississippi, where she entered a very rural shelter at just three months old. Month after month went by, and this sweet girl was continuously overlooked. Because she spent four crucial months growing up behind kennel doors, the shelter team knew she deserved a better chance at a bright future. They coordinated a long-distance transport all the way to North Carolina so our rescue could give her the opportunity she's been waiting for! Haley is now safe in a wonderful foster home, but because she spent her puppyhood in a shelter environment, the everyday world is still very fresh and unfamiliar. Discovering the World Household living is a brand-new adventure for Haley. Everyday things that most dogs take for granted—like the sound of a vacuum, household appliances, or new surfaces—are completely foreign to her. Because these everyday household sights and sounds are so new, new things tend to be a little scary for her at first. She will need an adopter who can offer plenty of patience, encouragement, and a gentle hand while she adjusts and builds confidence in her new surroundings. Personality & Playstyle Overall, Haley is an absolutely sweet, cute, and affectionate girl who has so much love to give. Dog Friends: Haley does fantastically with small and medium-sized dogs! Big Dog Dynamics: When it comes to dogs her own size or larger, Haley hasn't quite learned how to play appropriately yet. She tends to act "too tough" with bigger dogs, which can lead to conflict. For this reason, she would do best as the only big dog in the household or paired with smaller, easygoing canine companions. Training & Progress Haley is a smart girl who is eager to learn! Smart Cookie: Her foster mom has already taught her basic obedience commands like "sit" and "down"! Works in Progress: She is not yet housebroken or crate trained, so her adopters will need to maintain a consistent routine with positive reinforcement as she learns the ropes. The Ideal Home for Haley Haley is looking for a forever home that provides: Patience & Understanding: Time and grace to help her comfortably process new sights, sounds, and experiences at her own pace. Routine & Guidance: Continued work on house-training, crate training, and appropriate dog-to-dog play. A Loving Heart: Someone ready to guide this sweet girl through all the wonderful "firsts" life has to offer! Ready to show Haley how big and welcoming the world can be? Overview:
The Rottweiler is a powerful and intelligent breed, originating in Germany where they were primarily used to drive cattle and guard property. Physically, they are robust dogs, instantly recognizable by their medium-large size, strong build, and striking black coat with distinct tan markings, particularly on the muzzle, chest, and legs. Their temperament, when properly socialized and trained, is one of unwavering loyalty and confidence; they are known for being calm and courageous, making them excellent guardians. While generally good with children within their own family, their protective instincts mean they require supervision with strangers. Due to their size and need for regular exercise and mental stimulation, Rottweilers are generally not ideal for apartment living and thrive in homes with secure yards. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions, necessitating responsible breeding practices and regular veterinary check-ups.
