Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed. Meet Gar! Gar has come a LONG way since arriving at MAD! This big, goofy boy came to us without even knowing how to sit and initially struggled with kennel life. With plenty of structure, training, and outlets for his energy, Gar has made incredible progress. He's now comfortable in his kennel, no longer trying to escape, and is showing us just how much potential was hiding underneath all that big puppy energy. Training has been a game changer for Gar. He's eager to learn, making great progress, and thrives when he's given something productive to do. He's an active boy who will do best with someone ready to continue providing the structure, training, and mental stimulation that have helped him succeed. Gar does well with other dogs and would love a home that can appreciate his playful personality. Because he's a whole lot of enthusiastic puppy in a big body, a home without children is recommended, and cats are a no-go. But Gar's absolute favorite thing in the entire world? Belly scratches. Give this boy a good belly rub and you've officially found the way to his heart. Gar isn't the same dog who first arrived—he's learning, settling, and thriving. Now he just needs someone willing to keep that momentum going and show him how great forever can be. All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and six month subscription. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
