Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Say hello to Jam, a 3-year-old, 40 lb Pittie mix with a huge love for people! Jam is a social butterfly who thrives on human connection, and she did great living around kids during her time in Kentucky. Jam is still working on her manners — she can be a bit jumpy and excitable, so we recommend a home with kids 8 and up who can help reinforce calm, confident greetings. She's improving every day with her potty training too! Jam has a high prey drive and has unfortunately gotten into some backyard mishaps with small wildlife, so she'll need a home with no small animals (no bunnies, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc.). The good news? She lived alongside cats in a previous foster home and did just fine, and she also got along well with dogs ranging from 10 to 110 lbs, so she can be a great fit for multi-dog households too. Jam is a loving, people-oriented girl looking for a family who will help her grow into her best self. If you've got the time, patience, and yard space to help her thrive, Jam would love to meet you! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
