Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). My friends describe me as: Calm/chill, loyal and affectionate Meet Scrappy! *Requires two meets before going home Don't miss out, the sweetest, bestest boy is ready and waiting for you! Scrappy lived in a home with a wonderful family that sadly had to move into a place that didn't allow dogs. They did their best to make the selfless decision to bring him to us where he could find a new home and start a whole new life with people that will fall in love with him just like they did. Scrappy learned how to walk beautifully on a leash, and offer big smiles and nuzzles especially when you're feeling down. He's so friendly, affectionate and bonds hard with his people. Because he lived in an active home with people around all of the time he is just starting to learn how to be alone, by himself with his toys, his thoughts and his comfy bed. Sometimes he whines and cries which is actually really cute but will sometimes be a magnet for people to stay with him instead of leaving and helping him learn that its OK to be alone. Being a part of our front desk crew he's learned that people come and go and will always come back. If he sounds like the boy for you please drop by our Cape Cod location to meet him - you won't be dissappointed!! Scrappy is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY however, we are unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
