Wrapped in a gorgeous chocolate-brown coat, topped with a charming red nose, and sporting the dreamiest golden eyes you've ever seen, Eddie has mastered one magical trick: one look, and you'll be hopelessly in love. Eddie's favorite hobbies include collecting pets, perfecting the art of snuggling, strutting proudly on leash walks, and proving he's the undefeated Tug-of-War Champion of the Backyard. Life wasn't always kind to Eddie, but you would never know it from the way he greets every person with sweetness and trust. He's happiest soaking up love and giving it right back. Eddie prefers humans to other canines, so he's looking for a home where he can be the one and only dog. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
