The moment his evaluator walked into the yard, Ridge greeted him with a wagging tail and genuine curiosity. Throughout his evaluation, he kept choosing people. He climbed onto the couch to sit nearby, gently sniffed for treats, happily accepted affection, and handled every bit of the evaluation like an absolute gentleman. He's the kind of dog that makes you wonder how he ended up in a shelter. Ridge Needs a Medical Foster Ridge is heartworm positive and has already started doxycycline. Because of that, we're specifically looking for a medical foster who can provide him with a safe place to recover while he completes treatment. The shelter has offered to cover his heartworm treatment if he remains local, so we're hoping to find a foster in the Memphis, TN area to give this sweet boy the chance he deserves. Heartworm disease is treatable. Ridge doesn't need perfection—he just needs someone willing to open their home and help him through the healing process. While our mailing address is in Michigan, the majority of our dogs are not located in the state of Michigan. For transport, if you reside within 4 hours of the pet's fostered location, please be prepared to pick the pet up. For further distances, there is limited transport assistance available, however the applicant will be required to drive no less than half of the total distance.
