Neymar is a handsome 2-year-old Border Collie with a big personality and plenty of opinions! This independent, strong-willed guy definitely knows what he wants and isn't afraid to let you know when he disagrees. He's also quite vocal and has mastered the art of the puppy-style temper tantrum—especially when he's asked to do something he doesn't want to do. Despite his stubborn streak, Neymar has a lot of good qualities. He is surprisingly fantastic on leash and walks beautifully, even when squirrels make an appearance. He is also a big sweetheart at heart and genuinely means well, even when his enthusiasm and confidence get the better of him. Neymar is currently very stressed and still decompressing, so it's difficult to know which behaviors are truly part of his personality and which are coming from the stress of a new environment. He's been testing boundaries with the other dogs in his foster home and trying to establish himself socially, so he'll need an experienced owner who understands dog behavior and can provide structure, consistency, and appropriate boundaries. The crate is currently very much not Neymar's favorite thing, and he is quite vocal about his feelings on the subject. He'll need someone willing to work patiently on crate training rather than letting his protests make the decisions for him. Once he has had time to settle in, Neymar could be a fantastic companion for an active, experienced person who enjoys keeping their dog busy. He would thrive with plenty of enrichment, training, mental stimulation, and opportunities to put his clever Border Collie brain to work. Neymar is a big sweetie who wants to figure things out. Give him patience, structure, and a chance to decompress, and we're excited to see the dog he's going to become. They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
