Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. NELLY IS HOME. #MADloveNelly is back home with her foster today and we wanted to share with you what a crazy path rescue can be. Nelly was confiscated and quarantined at 3 months old because she got caught up with a dog pack in suburban Dallas She did her time in isolation at the shelter because someone claimed the pack of dogs bit them, she was guilty by association This particular shelter is running over capacity and dogs are in close quarters, unfortunately Nelly was exposed to shelter bugs for a good while. Once freed and in rescue, Nelly was able to be loved and relax....not a mean or vicious bone in her body, surprise surprise Unfortunately, her body was harboring some shelter cooties and once she relaxed they broke through and ravaged her immune system, she developed bacterial pneumonia in a hurry Nelly spent the last week at the animal hospital fighting her way back and trying to get better. She needed to be transferred to another clinic over the weekend because of short staffing and the president of Oklahoma German Shepherd Rescue, Inc. , Kristi, dropped everything to facilitate the transfer for us! Rescues helping rescues is what it's all about When she was ready to be released and needed help with transport, Zane Malinois, hopped in to save the day and meet her foster momma, Robin Gregory Last night she was able to return to her foster mom, and she shared the cutest and quietest little grass rolls to celebrate. The work behind the scenes in rescue is seldom linear, it is messy and spontaneous but people show up and facilitate saves on a daily basis, just to move onto the next need right away Thank you to Michelle Larmour and the MAD pack for sponsoring her care and hospital stay so she can be well and give us the best puppy rolls ever! The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
