If you want to skip straight to the application: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Here’s Your Quick Peek: Levi is an extraordinary dog and a true gentleman. He is affectionate, intelligent, gentle, and incredibly well-mannered in the house. Once he learns your routine, he settles in beautifully and is happy to be close to the people he trusts. Although his vision and hearing are limited, Levi is remarkably intuitive and learns very well when guided with gentle touch. He is a special soul who simply wants to enjoy life alongside his people. Must have: A calm, patient home that can provide a predictable routine, gentle guidance, and a small, secure fenced area. Exercise: Low to moderate — Levi enjoys wandering and exploring his surroundings but is also very content to relax and spend quiet time with his people. Best with: A quiet home with people who appreciate a gentle, affectionate companion. He can live in an apartment and does well with both large and small dogs. He is respectful of children, particularly children around age 12 and older. Not ideal for: A loud, chaotic, or highly overwhelming environment. Because Levi has limited vision and hearing, he needs people who will approach him gently and use soft touch to help guide and communicate with him. Energy level: Low — calm, gentle, and content to relax with his people. Levi is immediately friendly with new people and loves being close to the people he trusts. He is house trained and crate trained and learns remarkably well when gently guided through touch. His leash skills have not been fully documented, and car rides are reported to make him nervous. He is reported to do well with both large and small dogs and has excellent house manners. Good with dogs: Yes — reported good with both large and small dogs. Good with kids: Yes — very respectful of children, particularly children around age 12 and older. Cats: Unknown. Fun fact: Levi loves having sweet nothings whispered in his ear and being close to his people. Despite his limited vision and hearing, he is remarkably intuitive and learns beautifully through gentle touch and guidance. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
