Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). From Foster Parent: Kiki is such a sweetheart! She is very smart, sweet, devoted, and strong. She is fully housebroken and crate trained, but I only use the crate now when I leave for longer periods of time (i.e. 4 hours). After a `get to know you period` of 1-2 days, Kiki snuggles next to me on the couch especially for belly rubs, and is most comfortable snuggling in bed at night. No need to be in a crate at night. She gets most excited when I grab the leash and harness to go for walks! She is an explorer who starts out fast and strong, so a perfect fit for someone who likes to go for walks or even take her for runs. And she is fascinated by squirrels and other dogs, so a strong hold is needed at this time. We are working on moderating her gait so she doesn't pull so much at the start of each walk, and she is rapidly making progress in this area. No food insecurities, and she enjoys some wet food with her Iams dry food. Not too much into toys but we did have a good exercise session with a wet tennis ball around the pool one day this week. I will try to start introducing her next week to other dogs on our walks when it seems appropriate. Not sure how she is with kids just yet as we haven't had any opportunities. She will make a wonderful addition to her furever home.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
