Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Your Next Zoomie Queen Meet Zyla—Zoomies, Grace & a Little Shyness! Zyla is a sweet girl with two speeds: pretty easygoing and ZOOM! Give her some room in the yard and this athletic girl loves to run, stretch her legs, and show off her impressive zoomie skills. She’s a fairly easy walking companion with just a little pull, and she clearly enjoys getting out to explore. But underneath that playful, energetic side is a girl who can be timid and a little unsure of new people and situations. Zyla isn’t looking for someone to rush her. She needs a patient adopter who will give her time to decompress, build trust, and discover that the world isn't quite as scary as it sometimes seems. Once she feels safe, we expect more of that sweet personality—and probably plenty more zoomies—to shine through. If you're looking for an athletic adventure buddy with a tender heart and a playful side waiting to emerge, Zyla may be your girl. Give her a little time, and watch her blossom! Zyla has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. She's also sharing her shelter suite with a friend she met at the shelter. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
